What AppMagic does well

AppMagic is a games specialist. Its homepage describes a hand-built classification by genre, setting and art style, a Success Meter that counts how many apps in a subgenre clear a revenue bar, LiveOps analysis of events and offers, and ad intelligence by creative, network and country.

It also goes deeper than store signals. Its pricing page lists retention and engagement analysis, and its Advanced Search filters include DAU, MAU, ARPDAU and retention ranges, SDKs and publisher HQ. Steam analytics cover games, DLCs, revenue, playtime and followers.

Since May 2026 it is part of Sensor Tower. AppMagic’s announcement says it will focus on small and medium-sized businesses inside Sensor Tower’s wider intelligence ecosystem.

Where AppGazers fits

You can start without a demo. AppMagic’s pricing page is a demo request form that promises a walkthrough “with pricing to match”. AppGazers opens after Google sign-in and is free during beta.

It is built for non-game apps as much as games. Subscription utilities, AI tools, health trackers and education apps get the same rising and trending lists, developer portfolios, review filters and keyword scores as games do.

Every estimate carries its period and a P10–P90 band. That matters for games, whose revenue swings with events: you can see whether a band is narrow or wide before you trust a ranking.

  • Google Play lifetime install brackets with 7-day change.
  • Public Meta (EU/UK) and Google ad creative linked to the app and its advertiser accounts.
  • An MCP server so an AI assistant can query the catalog after OAuth consent.

What AppGazers does not replace

AppGazers has no hand-tagged game taxonomy, no LiveOps or event tracking, no retention, DAU or ARPDAU data, no SDK filters and no Steam coverage. A studio choosing between Merge-2 and Match-3D metagames will get more from AppMagic’s tags and Success Meter.

AppGazers also does not analyse ad networks, and its only spend figure is a rough reach-based Meta band; it shows public creative from Meta’s EU/UK library and Google Ads Transparency.

Same game, both tools: Heartopia

AppMagic estimates, in a September 10, 2026 blog post, that Heartopia generated $67M in H1 2026, set a life-sim record of $20M in a single month, and passed $130M in lifetime revenue including its China-only period. It also says China is Heartopia’s largest market at 46% of revenue.

AppGazers estimated August 2026 gross in-app spend for the Heartopia iOS listing at about $7.8M, with an 80% band of $3.6M to $19.8M, and downloads of about 284K (149K to 588K). The Google Play listing was estimated at about $1.8M ($0.7M to $4.2M), with a 10M+ lifetime install bracket. Figures as of October 6, 2026.

These numbers do not cover the same thing. AppMagic’s figures are half-year, peak-month and lifetime totals that include China; AppGazers models one recent month on the App Store and Google Play. Read them as two views of a hit, not as a contest.

AppMagic pricing and access in 2026

AppMagic did not publish prices on October 6, 2026. Its pricing page is a demo request form: you describe your use case and AppMagic builds a walkthrough “with pricing to match”. Its homepage also offers a “Try for Free” button that opens its live top charts, which list apps by downloads, revenue and featuring score with a CSV download option.

AppGazers is free during beta after Google sign-in, with no demo step.

Which tool fits which game team?

The right choice depends on the question you answer most often.

  • A solo developer sizing a casual-game or utility niche: start with AppGazers.
  • A studio comparing subgenres, art styles or metagames: AppMagic’s tags and Success Meter fit better.
  • A live game team planning events and offers: AppMagic’s LiveOps analysis.
  • A publisher also shipping on Steam: AppMagic, or Sensor Tower’s Video Game Insights.
  • Anyone who wants to check public ad creative for free: AppGazers.

How to switch from AppMagic

If you used AppMagic mainly for top charts and revenue estimates, the move is small.

  • Recreate genre watchlists by searching titles and saving them to Your apps.
  • Use category and Play subgenre filters with estimate ranges to rebuild segment views.
  • Check developer portfolios for publisher-level totals and their advertiser accounts.
  • Keep AppMagic if LiveOps, retention or Steam data drive your roadmap.
