CREATIVE RESEARCH GUIDE
Google Ads Transparency Center for App Research
Use Google Ads Transparency Center for app research alongside store evidence, without claiming ad spend, targeting, performance, or causal attribution.
Google Ads Transparency Center helps researchers inspect advertiser and creative evidence visible in Google’s public transparency surface. Pair it with store research, but do not turn a visible ad into a claim about spend, targeting, installs, or performance.
At a glance
| Research item | Responsible use | Unsupported leap |
|---|---|---|
| Advertiser result | Document a public advertiser identity and date | Assume all brands or accounts are included |
| Creative message | Compare visible claims with the store listing | Infer conversion or installs |
| Creative format | Classify what is publicly visible | Infer placement, audience, or budget |
| Repeated observation | Generate an original test hypothesis | Claim causal market impact |
Search Google Ads Transparency Center with a clear research question
Begin with one competitor, audience, or product promise. Search the advertiser where possible, record the public result and date, then compare the visible message with the app’s current store listing. This is a way to collect evidence, not a way to reconstruct a campaign plan.
A visible advertiser or creative is a fact about that retrieved public surface. Absence is not evidence that a company does not advertise, and visibility does not expose private metrics.
Connect public creative to public product positioning
Use a compact table for creative claim, product-page claim, audience implied, proof shown, date, and uncertainty. Look for a mismatch: an ad may promise a faster first result than the store page communicates.
The mismatch is a research lead. It does not show whether the message converted, where it appeared, how much was spent, or whether a listing change caused any ranking movement.
Worked example: turn a public ad into a product question
Hypothetical example: a public advertiser result for a photo-scanning app repeatedly leads with “scan receipts in seconds,” while its store listing opens with document organisation. The captured difference is an observation. It does not reveal campaign performance or identify the message that drove installs.
For a competing product, the research hypothesis may be: “Speed language is worth testing before organisational language for a first-use page.” Make original material, then measure only an owned campaign or product experiment.
Produce a transparent advertising research memo
The actionable output is a dated evidence memo: source link, advertiser, creative claim, listing comparison, uncertainty, and one original testable hypothesis. Include an explicit line that it makes no spend, audience, reach, conversion, or attribution claim.
AppGazers is free during beta and can help place available Google public-ad research beside catalog, keyword, ranking, and review evidence. It does not expose private Google Ads data or run advertising campaigns for a user.
